St. Johns County Cultural Council, Inc., a local nonprofit organization and Local Arts Agency for greater St. Johns County, will circulate the first ever Arts & Culture Survey to county and city commission candidates during the month of July. This survey includes questions on a variety of topics that will impact the development and growth of arts and culture throughout all regions of the county.

“We are following the lead of other Cultural Councils around the state and nation on this survey. St. Augustine photographer Jim Hughes is offering a seven-session photography class at the Bartram Trail Branch Library. Classes will continue each Tuesday night through August. The 6th and 7th sessions will allow participants to apply newly-learned techniques in the field on Saturday (Aug. 16 and 23). Times and locations to be determined.
Learn how to maximize your camera’s potential by learning both the technical and compositional elements of photography. Topics will include f-stops, shutter speeds, depth of field, auto-focus, filters, dynamic range, manual vs auto-exposure, matrix and spot metering, histograms, exposure compensation, aperture and shutter priority, contrast, composition, flash, bracketing, aspect ratios, ISO settings, white balance and more. The St. Johns County Public Library System is teaming up with local organizations to offer a FREE Teen Financial Literacy Series. Seminars will be held at the Bartram Trail Branch Library on Monday and Tuesday, August 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.

The classes will be taught by the Junior Achievement of Florida’s First Coast, Inc., and the St. Johns Chapter of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The St. Johns County Public Library System is teaming up with local organizations to offer a FREE Teen Financial Literacy Series. Seminars will be held at the Bartram Trail Branch Library on Monday and Tuesday, August 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.

The classes will be taught by the Junior Achievement of Florida’s First Coast, Inc., and the St. Johns Chapter of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Subjects will include budgeting, personal investment, credit options and pitfalls, identity theft and other related topics. The Teen Financial Literacy Series is ideal for recent high school graduates, those starting a first job, students heading off to college or any teen who wants to learn about managing money.

The St. Augustine Shores Emergency Response Team will be hosting a Hurricane Preparedness Seminar on Tuesday August 12, from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM. The location will be The Riverview Club, 790 Cristina Drive in the St. Augustine Shores.

St. John's County Emergency Management, Northeast Florida Red Cross, Allstate Insurance, The National Weather Service and others will have staff available to address any of your questions or concerns. All residents of St. John's County are urged to attend.
