commission election

WOW is all I can say to the pro Stevenson comments!!

Are some of the folks posting pro-Cyndi comments really that ignorant to vote for her??

Please tell me exactly what makes you root for her so badly?  I don't get it, here is someone who has literally done nothing for the people but everything for new development, why in the world would I want her to sit on that board another 4 years, that in itself is stupid and I don't know why people like "doggielover" don't see the big picture here! Maybe you are one of those folks that just doesn't know any better, whatever...

"Doggielovers" suggestions was Miner and Brunson would make a great addition to Stevenson because they seems like a great fit, yeah right, did you read the news lately, you should know Brunson is  being investigated by the elections office for false statements in regards to his campaign finances? That is definetely not who I will vote for, the guy isn't even in office and has these issues..Come on people. What a joke!

Don't tell me you have to live here for over 30 years to deserve running for political office either!

I was at one of those forums last week and I thought Ben Rich is great, district 3 is lucky to have him, he is upfront and honest about the facts of being a commissioner, no "BS" there, straight to the point, that is not what I call arrogance, that is integrity and more power to him, he is also the only one who voted against the fire fee, 'cause he looks out for his people, fortunately that is off the table but Commissioner Stevenson voted for it wasting money on paper and stamps by sending out  notices and freaking out people living right here in her neighborhood of JCP. $ 1 per person in St. Johns County was wasted and that sounds like a lot of money that we could have used otherwise. Is that what she calls a "voice of reason"??? No thank you. Aren't we going through a budget crisis???

I'd rather see anybody but her on the board, what are our options? Abbatello and Roland, by all means either one sounds better than 4 more years of Stevenson!!

But then again one would hope that enough people in district 1 will see the big picture and vote accordingly!

I have know Cyndi for about 10 years. She is an intelligent, conservative, honest and ethical person. She thinks through every issue that comes before the Commission and comes to her decisions independently. The are no buddy politics on her agenda.

Does that mean the she, or anyone else is immune to making mistakes or choices that may not end up being the best decisions? No.

As US Citizens and registered voters, we all have our choices to make on election day. That gives us the right to come to our decisions independently. I would never be so crude as to call anyone who disagrees with my decision as "ignorant" as Sally has done in her post in reference to me. Disagreement is fine. Insults are not.

As for the comment regarding Randy Brunson and the complaint regarding campaign finances...You may want to check into the individual who made that complaint. My understanding is that the person who filed the complaint has been disbarrred and can no longer practice law in the State of Florida. He also has a history of filing malicious complaints over the years during the campaign seasons. Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? Jumping to the conclusion that Sally made, is exactly what certain people want all of us to do. There is a buddy system of politics that has been going on for several years now with our Commission. What this group would love is to have 3, 4 or 5 members of the Commission think exectly alike. No free thinking, independent members on the Commission is one of the most dangerous scenarios that I can think of for the good of St. Johns County.

If you are concerned with the campaign finance issue, what about the federal investigation into Manuel? Did you know that Abbatello was Manuel's aide in the County Commission prior to his decision to run for office? Hmmm.

Abbatello has no campaign platform other than to create citizen groups throughout the county. By the way, there are already citizen groups formed throughout the county. Why do we need more and what will it really accomplish?

I encourage everyone to do their own research into all of the candidates and to make their decisions based on facts, Most importantly, get out and vote on August 26.

Ms. Stevenson has worked very hard, over the past four years, to improve St. Johns County and to insure that its government runs smoothly.  During the last two years, she has often been the lone voice of reason on the commission.  Her education and work experience, as a CPA, is sorely needed by the County during these difficult economic times and her experience on the County Commission is invaluable.
